Selwood Keeps Log Ride Flowing at Thorpe Park July 2009 Thorpe Park, one of the major theme parks in the UK, recently experienced a problem when the water supply to its log flume ride became blocked causing the ride to close down. Water from a lake feeds pumps that then propel the water round for the log ride. Overpumping was required to take the water from the lake to the well chamber where the Park’s pumps then took over. This particular ride is one of the more popular attractions and it was with some urgency that Selwood were approached and asked to supply the equipment and set up the overpumping. Selwood responded quickly and had pumps and hose on site within hours of receiving the order. Because of problems with access, the largest pump that could be used was a 6” unit so 10 SuperSilent S150 pumps were delivered. Positioning and installation began at 7.30 in the evening after the public had left and continued again at 6.15 the following morning. The management at Thorpe Park were more than pleased with the prompt and efficient service delivered by Selwood given the urgency of the situation. |
